The Oregonian - Legislator Maxine Dexter announces run for Congress

Rep. Maxine Dexter, a Portland Democrat, announced Wednesday that she will run for Congress in Oregon’s 3rd District, making her the third declared candidate for the seat being vacated by longtime U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer.

“I’ve been looking to make as much impact in my community and in my state as I can,” Dexter told The Oregonian/OregonLive. “I’m someone who listens, who leads and solves problems. I’m pragmatic and solutions-oriented, and I’ve been successful in Salem taking that approach. We need people in Washington who will listen to everyone and be focused on outcomes where we’re in alignment. We need to work across ideologies and party and just do the right thing for people.”
